RTS game Dota 2 will be brought to the Japanese and Korean markets, according to online game publisher Nexon along with its recent of announcement of partnership with game, software developer Valve. Dota 2 is based on a Warcraft 3 mod called Defense of the Ancients which through the years has become a standard for real-time strategy games.
“Partnering with Nexon will allow us to deliver Dota 2 to a massive audience of Asian gamers via a premium service,” said Valve President Gabe Newell.
Since its closed beta launch last year, Dota 2 has gained new fans some of which are players from its predecessor. With this partnership, Valve is likely expecting a lot from Nexon to successfully deliver the game to these new markets. Currently, Dota 2 players are given beta keys which they use to access their Steam accounts. However, Dota 2 is heading toward a free-to-play launch soon so we could be seeing more players as well as teams pushing their way to victory.
