Mendes confirmed the fight last Monday on Twitter.
“It’s official like a referee whistle!” Mendes tweeted. “I’m fighting Hacran Dias Dec. 15 in Australia.”
Mendes steps into the Octagon for the second time where he is suffering from a first-round knockout last January 14 to 145-pound champion Jose Aldo at UFC 142.
It is also the first time that Chad Mendes lost a mixed martial match during his 13-bout professional career.

The announcement of the fight against Dias comes a little more than a month since Mendes was hit with a battery charge by the Kings County (Calif.) District Attorney’s Office.
The charge, which was handed down Aug. 24, stems from an alleged physical altercation involving Mendes on July 29 at a Hanford, Calif., bar. Mendes is a resident of Hanford.
Dias (21-1-1) made his UFC debut on June 23 with a unanimous decision over Yuri Alcantara.
