A group of designers from East China Normal University made concept that will prevent us to use extension cord wires for charging our favourite gadgets, and also, it is a entry for the 2012 iF Design Talents.
The work is just simple, there is a wall outlet that the Free Socket is attached to the wall, with a retractable cord. If the person really needs a long wire or something that his favourite charger can’t reach, they may simply detach the Free Socket and stretch it anywhere when you find convenient for charging.
Compared to any wall-mounted or extension cord wires, Free Socket features also USB charging as well as the other male chargers. Since that the socket moves freely the gadgets has more potential for mishaps, if really happens, and its on the concept stage, so we really know if these will be on reality.
